Plane crash in NYC captured on real-time web

The people bitching about the “real-time web” are missing the point I think. I first came across this story on Facebook. Then I saw it again, scanning the blog feeds I follow. If I was really interested (I am not) I would have checked Google News or even Google search. I have not watched TV news at all in the last month and have only read the local daily 4 times in the last 5 weeks. The point: In the past we relied on Big Media to filter and inform us of what was happening in our community and the world…but not any more…Big Media is dying. That IS the point I think.
